South Carolina Unemployment Application
The South Carolina unemployment application is a document that is filed by someone who has just been laid off from work. By filing this application, the applicant may be eligible to receive unemployment insurance benefits to help support themselves and their families while they look for new employment.
It should be noted that the South Carolina unemployment insurance is not a welfare program, and in order for your South Carolina unemployment application to be successful, you will need to have worked for an employer who will have paid taxes in your name. Your benefits have to be earned.

The purpose of the unemployment insurance in South Carolina is to provide you with temporary assistance, and in order to qualify, there are some criteria that you must meet. These criteria include being laid off from work through no fault of your own. You must have also earned a minimum wage amount for the last 12 months prior to the quarter before you were laid off. You can find out more information on the specific criteria by contacting your local Workforce Center.
If your South Carolina unemployment application is successful, you can expect to receive approximately half your regular wage, but this is only up to a maximum amount of $326 per week. This benefit will be provided to you on a weekly basis for a period of up to 26 weeks as long as you continue to be eligible. You must be actively seeking employment, and any earnings that you receive must be reported to your unemployment officer. You can earn up to a quarter of your weekly benefit without it being affected, and if you fail to declare any earnings you receive, you can be prosecuted.
You can file your South Carolina unemployment application in your local office, by telephone, or online. The online application process is available between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday through Friday.
